Please be sure to come to the "Philanthropy" table, in the back, and pick up pillowcase kits and/or quilt kits. Just complete them at your leisure and then return them to us. The guild does such wonderful work and helps so many in need, and none of it could be done without each one of you.

Charm
Squares
Happy New Year, 2011! It’s a time for starting afresh and looking forward to trying new things. This is my first time ever doing anything with Charm Squares so this should be an adventure for me (and probably you, too). As I was trying to decide about fabric choices, I tried to think of what each month reminds me of and to use that as my inspiration. Therefore, I will list the colors for each month’s Charm Squares and the inspiration behind the colors.
Regarding the fabric itself, it needs to be high quality and un-washed, with the selvages removed. And very important—the fabric needs to be cut to an accurate 5 inch square. You can get your twenty-four charms out of a ˝ yard (or 2 fat quarters). Bring your cut squares in a plastic Ziploc bag marked clearly with your name to each guild meeting.

Block of the
Month
Each month, a different pattern will
be included in the newsletter, or you can get a pattern at the guild
meeting.
Just make as many blocks as you want and turn them in each month. We will
have a drawing for the winner of submitted blocks at each guild meeting. Each
month, we’ll hold back one block for philanthropy, and at the end of the year,
they’ll have enough for a quilt top.
Merchandise
Purchase tickets and select the item that you would like to win. At the
end of the meeting the tickets will be drawn. The more tickets you purchase the
better your odds are of winning.
Monthly
Mini
Purchase tickets for the opportunity to win the
monthly mini. The monthly mini is made by a guild member and they are absolutely
fantastic.
Library
Library materials will be loaned to members for one month.
Library materials will be available at each general meeting.
The Library
has books, patterns and magazines.
Door Prizes
Members bring door prizes to the meeting during their birthday
month. Members also bring a snack during their birthday month.
Hospitality
Water & snacks will be available at all general guild meetings.
Friendship
Groups
Friendship Groups are forming all the time. Please
contact the chairperson if you are interested in joining a friendship group.
